what about adding specific site pages such as contact, sitemap and privacy to the footer? so it would look like this:

mysite copyright 2011|privacy|contact|sitemap

is that a simple fix as well?

Similar problem here, I would like to modify the footer and followed the approach of Sangram. Having outputted dynamically the menu in the footer section,(using <?php wp_nav_menu( array( ‘theme_location’ => ‘primary’ ) ); ?>).
I do not know the ids and classes of the html tags so I cannot modify them via CSS based on my aspirations.

What can I do in this case?

use a tool such as Firefox’ add-on Firebug https://getfirebug.com/ or an equivalent browser tool to find these classes – or look into the html output of your site in the browser – ‘View source’ or similar.

I was trying to do this by pasting the code in to my footer… the first set of code works to change the footer copyright… but when pasting the second piece of code to show pages and copyright I get an error and it shows the code in the footer instead of the pages?

Where exactly does the second piece of code paste into this code??? This works for the straight copyright…

I guess there’s something in the code you’re provided that has to be changed, but as I’m not really a coding person I don’t see the problem.
