I was editing the CSS in my twenty-eleven child theme to make the width of the pages wider and now my site won’t display correctly on my computer. I reset the width values to their original size and still it’s messed up. The navigation bar isn’t displaying correctly and the pages do not display their windows correctly. My website does however display correctly on my iPhone oddly enough. The only thing I can think of that I did was while using Chrome and remember pressing “Shift + Command + R” by accident and that’s when my website stopped working. I’ve since cleared my history and Caches on Chrome and that doesn’t seem to be an issue.

Can someone please take a look at the code and see if you can figure out what I need to do to fix it?

Did you backup the CSS file before editing it?

    If so, try restoring it.

Unfortunately I did not back up the CSS file before editing it. I did however manage to resolve the issue by copying and pasting the default style.css of a plain twenty-eleven theme into the child style.css. The crummy thing about this method is I lost the custom code I’d added to my child theme. I hate how I have to learn this lesson every time I update my website once a year.

    Glad you got it sorted.

Backup: Always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!
