Twenty Eleven with Child theme: default and sidebar

When I had one of my pages set to the default template it was lacking the sidebar and that was the only noticeable difference to me.

what layout option do you have selected under:
dashboard – apperance – theme options?

if you have ‘one-column, no-sidebar’ selected, then even the ‘sidebar template’ will not show a sidebar.

alchymyth, I have “content on left” selected.

I don’t have a “problem” – yet.

My content appears as I want it. However the main page

has “sidebar” template selected

and this second static page

https://occupythishope.org/why-this-amendment-an-analysis/

has “default” template selected.

I can see no difference between the layout of the two, and as I progress to potentially making some static pages parents of others, I thought it best to try to understand “if” and “what” the difference(s) may be between Twenty Eleven’s “default” and “sidebar” templates.

I see that you are using the ‘theme extensions’ plugin;
/wp/wp-content/plugins/twenty-eleven-theme-extensions/moztheme2011.css?ver=3.4.2

I am not fimiliar with the possible settings options of that plugin;

but it is possible that the plugin is overwriting the ‘default’ non-sidebar page (?)

Do you mean that your understanding is that without the theme extensions plugin, the Twenty Eleven’s “default” template would NOT offer a sidebar menu, even if the theme was set to have the Default layout “content on left” instead of “one column, no sidebar”?

yes – without a plugin, the default page.php template in Twenty Eleven does NOT provide a sidebar, regardless of the layout settings.

i also i want to know the difference between both of this (sidebar-template.php and page.php)

as im a newbie .,
i digout the codes of both default and sidebar-template page and found out that there are some diffrence in the code , help please :<(
