Twenty Fifteen php 7.0 Compatibility issue

    In WordPress 5.3.2 when i upgrade to php 7.0 Twenty Fifteen ( 2.5 ) theme brokes down and display the above warnings:

    Warning: vsprintf(): Too few arguments in wp-content/themes/twentyfifteen/inc/custom-header.php on line 261
    Warning: vsprintf(): Too few arguments in wp-content/themes/twentyfifteen/inc/custom-header.php on line 262
    Warning: vsprintf(): Too few arguments in wp-content/themes/twentyfifteen/inc/custom-header.php on line 263

    When downgrade to php 5.6 the theme works fine. Deactivate all plugins and the warnings remain. Switch to Twenty Sixteen theme and all works fine.

    Any ideas where is the problem?

  • If you update the colors in Appearance->Customize->Colors does it resolve the issue when running on php 7.0? I tested on my local install and I’m able to run TwentyFifteen on PHP 7.0.33 just fine without any errors.

    Based upon the error you are seeing, the code is related to the Colors settings in the customizer.
