• Hello,

I upgraded to WordPress version 4 recently and as part of my efforts to speed up the website, switched to Twenty Fourteen theme. Though the site is pretty fast now, I am experiencing multiple problems.

    – Image gallery is blank
    – Images do not appear anywhere on the site (Home page, posts, pages etc)
    – Jetback plugin returns an error (it says the site is not available publicly)

Here’s my site Dubai Business Blog

Though I have some technical background, I am pretty new to web building with little expertise in coding.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It looks like your site is blocking Jetpack from accessing your xmlrpc.php file. You can contact your hosting provider to ask why, or get in touch with the Jetpack folks via https://jetpack.me/contact-support/ for more details.

Hi James, thank you very much for the comments. I have already contacted the hosting provider for assistance.

Still waiting for some comments about image gallery related issues.

    Thanks again.

The image gallery will be the same issue, for now try disabling the Photon module.

Once Jetpack can access things again, Photon should properly too, and so will your galleries.

Unfortunately it appears to be a very frustrating problem. When I try to access the Jetpack settings to disable photon, the page says “You do not have the right to access this page” (when we login using admin credentials!!).

Guess, only the hosting provider can sort this out. If the guys at bluehost cannot fix it, we would be in trouble; real trouble!

Also, I recommend reaching out to the Jetpack folks via https://jetpack.me/contact-support/

I tried disabling Jetpack….still no images in the Media Gallery. I managed to get the Jetpack plugin connect with my site. The photon module is disabled but the problem continues. To make things worse, I am not able to add any new themes. When I hover over the “Appearance” on the dashboard, no sections appear. I have to click on “Appearance” which takes me to the existing themes – I can either activate any one of the existing themes or edit the current theme – no other options available.

I would really appreciate if someone in the wordpress community can help us on this issue.

Are you logged in as an Administrator? Can you access the Users section of the dashboard, and does it say “Administrator” next to your username?

Yes, I am logged in as the admin. I can access the Users section of the dashboard and it says Administrator next to my user name. I checked the permissions on the media files in my host account….its all set to 755.

Ok, something is interfering with your admin capabilities.

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fourteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Hello James, thank you so much for your time.

I tried deactivating the plugins a few times already but nothing changed. Upon your advise I tried it again just now, but as expected, there were no changes.

I am using Twenty Fourteen theme. I have requested my hosting service provider to look into this too. But as of now, I don’t see a solution yet. WordPress has been good for us till now; I just wonder if we will have to look beyond it.

Is this site part of a Multisite installation, or is it part of a single site installation?

    Thread Starter cbbglobal

    (@cbbglobal)

    It’s a single site installation.

One side effect of disabling the plugins was that Jetpack won’t connect again. It says the site is not publicly available (I couldn’t find anything to this effect) with 403 error.

    I am puzzled!!

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

Ok, have you heard back from Bluehost yet?

403 means that Jetpack is being blocked by your hosting provider for some reason, which was probably the core of the issue. If you’re using Jetpack’s Photon module for your images, but Jetpack can’t access your site, you have no images. ??

Pretty much, only your hosting provider can correct this.

    (@cbbglobal)

The photon module was not activated….I have asked the hosting service provider to look into this.

Thanks a lot James for your time and suggestions. It is really appreciated.
