• I want to creating a page without posts…just a page of text and graphics with the existing left sidebar. How can I stop my page from looking like a blog post, or does WordPress limit my site to a blog format? Also, I do not want the content sidebar (right column) on my non-blog pages. How can I change the template for these pages? (Sorry, I’m used to Joo*** which is a completely different animal).

You will also notice that my text doesn’t appear under the graphics, but wraps itself around the second picture.

    Thank you.

  • Do not edit the Twenty Fourteen theme. It is the current default WordPress theme and having access to an original, unedited, copy of the theme is vital in many situations. First create a child theme for your changes. Or install a custom CSS plugin.

Thanks…I’ll read up on it, but wouldn’t that mean my URL would totally change? Also, I worry about if the parent theme gets automatic changes, then the child theme wouldn’t get updated. Is this even a problem?

    Thanks

    No.

No. The whole point of child themes is that they pick up the updates made to the parent theme.

Thanks, esmi. a. back everything up. b. create child theme.

It’s a good place to start.
