    You can find that option at Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Featured Content and make sure that “Grid” is selected from the “Layout” dropdown.

    Thanks for the reply above. But on this example, https://www.ads-software.com/themes/twentyfourteen/ – there are three content areas/images just underneath the main meu on top and above the videos on the right sidebar. Is there a special widget for that to show up?

    That’s controlled by the same settings: If you go to Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Featured Content and set a tag to be the featured tag (in the text box labeled “Tag name”), then up to six posts with that tag will appear in a grid above the content area and below the top menu.
