This issue started a few months ago. The display is not correct. The page says skip to content and page is also white when should be dark.

Turned off all plugins: Issue remained

Switched theme: Issue went away. Deleted the Twenty seventeen them and reinstalled it. Everything displayed as it should. Few hours later it was back to displaying incorrectly. All but a few plugins are turned off. Turned all of them off and still had same issue.

I have had this theme going for at least 2 years with no issues then this started. Need help ASAP or I will need to redo entire site.

    Thank you in advance.

Hi @renovateapparel – your theme’s stylesheet is missing, which is why your styles aren’t loading at all. You see how this URL is giving a 404 file not found error:

    https://renovateapparel.com/wp-content/themes/twentyseventeen/style.css

Theme files don’t normally go missing on their own. I suspect either a rogue plugin on your site, or something in your hosting setup, but these are just guesses.

I would suggest contacting your host to see if you can access any logs that could provide clues about what or who is removing that file from your server.

You might also try installing an audit plugin like this one to see if it could reveal clues.

Let me know how it goes!

How do I reinstall what is needed. In www.ads-software.com or in my hosting?

Right now when I open my site it appears to be working correctly. so not sure how to fix what you are saying.

Yep, I see your site fine now, so looks like this is an intermittent issue with the stylesheet coming and going. I still suspect either a problematic plugin or something with your server (hosting) settings.

What plugins are you running? You could try leaving your plugins inactive for a couple of days to see if the issue happens again. If it does, turn them on one at a time to see if the issue returns.

I would also definitely check with your host to see if they can look at the server logs with you to see what might be going on. It could be a security setting somewhere in your hosting configuration making that file inaccessible. The server logs may provide clues.

I have already deactivated all except my e commerce, Jetpack, W3 total cache, wordfence security. I had all of these disabled to and the problem resurfaced while they were off. Can I post a pic of what it is doing here?

OK, the problem occurred while all your plugins were off?

Then you’ll really want to talk to your host about looking at the server logs, as I mentioned earlier.

Can I post a pic of what it is doing here?

I saw the problem earlier, so I don’t think I need a screenshot, but you’re welcome to post one anyway.

The problem is that your stylesheet file is intermittently going “404 not found” resulting in an incorrect display on the front end (public side). This isn’t something that normally happens, so if you’ve ruled out a plugin issue, the next step I’d recommend is contacting your host to look at your logs for clues.

Kathryn thanks for your help. If you would please do a private browse or delete the history from the website and look at it now. The issue it is having is now being displayed. This has been the issue> Not sure if it is the theme or something else. I just pulled it on my phone and computer. Top left corner says skip to content.

I think they might have found it. One of the htaccess files had an issue. Took them like an hour. Now lets see if it stays.

    Appreciate your insight.
