Twenty Seventeen Frontpage Sections – Categories

    I currently use the Graphene Theme for our sailing club website (rlsc.rudyardlakesc.org.uk) but am considering moving to Twenty Seventeen.

    Graphene is an excellent theme and one of the key features for me is the ability to choose the categories of posts to display on the front page. However, it’s not responsive so I’ve been looking for something else and thought at the same time I’d give the site a bit of a revamp ready for the start of the next sailing season in the new year.

    What I’m trying to achieve is a front page with sections of posts (Featured, Latest News, Upcoming Events etc. along the lines of the rya.org.uk site.

    At first site, I thought that the 20-17 front page sections was the answer but I see that we can only enter details pages. It seems to me to be overkill to create a page for each post category just so that they can be referenced in the section. Or is it just me barking up the wrong tree with this approach? Was there some major technical reason why the category option made available?
