Twenty Seventeen home page white space

I am trying to reduce the white space on my front page using the twenty seventeen theme. I already reduced the white space for single pages using the code:

.page #content {
padding-top: 5px !important;
padding-bottom: 0px !important;
}

But this does not seem to work for the front page. I have been messing with this for a while now. Any help would be appreciated.

To be clear what I am referring to on my homepage there is an inch white space below the menu and above the title (the space is also between the menu and side bar). I would like for it to look like the other single pages.
