twenty twelve header colour

  • Hi,
    Im using wordpress 3.5.1 with twenty twelve theme.
    I have created a child theme, so far i’m happy with my changes.

    I want to colour my header, then colour my menu strip with a lighter colour.

    I understand that i have to create a new <div in the header.php file and create an entry in my style.css for the colour etc.

    But not sure what
