twenty twelve white space with form issue

When I try to paste a form below some text a large amount of white space is created. I inspected the page using Firefox and here is what I saw:

I didn’t see reason for the gap that was obvious to me, so I tried changing the vertical alignment from “baseline” to “top”, but that didn’t change anything.
