• Hi everyone,

For the first time I’m trying Twenty Twenty-Four. It is leaving me puzzled…

I have rewritten the standard (homepage??? The page you see when you first start working with it).

However. It cannot be found. It is not in my pages. It is not even in my posts. I can’t seem to get there. I would love for it to be the home page, but since I can’t find it it’s impossible to put in in my pages. What I used is called ‘business home’. (But apparently isn’t a homepage at all??)

The page I can’t find back has all the asterix; about 12 * that each go with a tiny piece of text.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

While you can PREVIEW any theme, you need to ACTIVATE it before you can use it to display your pages outside of the preview window.

Your current ACTIVE theme is “Blossom Pin”, and not Twenty Twenty-Four.

Perhaps you edited one of the theme’s TEMPLATEs?

What I used is called ‘business home’. (But apparently isn’t a homepage at all??)

Except this the Twenty Twent-Four theme doesn’t come with any template named “business home”… so now I’m not really sure what you edited.

If you can provide a FULL screenshot of where you went to edit this “page” in question, I might be able to explain the situation to you and help you accomplish your goal.

    Standing by.

    @gappiah thanks for your reply.

it’s true, apparently I have messed in a sample page (screen shot: first one). However I did save it… Could find it yesterday, today it is gone. Hope it is still retrievable because a lot of work went into it.

The theme is odd; just this morning I moved the wp installation to the sub domain https://www.life-coaching.timhupkes.com Before it was on https://www.timhupkes.com/life_coaching I had installed a fresh wp for this one, and chose the 2024 theme.

However when I check the code it is twenty twenty-four..? (I did not use a child yet, bad I know but I will get to that shortly)

I’ve managed to make matters worse. I now get a ‘empty template: home page’ on the live website.

I have put the homepage in static page (home).

I have uninstalled 2024 and reinstalled it. Unfortunately that didn’t work either.

Also I have added a Twenty Twenty-Four child theme. Weirdly enough wp reads that child theme as a 2023 child theme… and support that. But not 2024… ??

Looking at your site, you are using blossom-pin theme!!!!!

I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/theme/blossom-pin/#new-post so its developers and support community can help you with this.

    Thanks for your reply!

I’m really not… the main domain uses blossom pin, but this sub domain doesn’t. I checked the code, it does say 2024. So I am not sure what goes wrong there… When you checked, 25 min ago, it was Hestia.

I have now put 2024 back although it makes me extremely anxious because all there is to see is… ‘empty template: home’ ??

If you know of anything that I can do it’s much appreciated!!

In older themes you were able to set any static page to be the front page. In theme twenty twentyfour this seems no longer be possible. Do i overlook something? I don’t want a blog page as home page.

    Pleas help me.

I think I figured this out, I was having the same issue. You would normally be able to set this in the “customize” section under “appearance”, however for some reason this is missing from twenty twenty four. If you change your URL so after “/wp-admin” it reads “/customize.php”, you should be able to then select “homepage settings”, and set your home page to a static page of your choosing. Hope this helps! Bookmark that page so you can get there again if you ever want to switch things up.

I think I figured this out, I was having the same issue.

First, OP’s question was about selecting the homepage TEMPALATE, and not about setting an arbitrary PAGE as the homepage. So that’s a totally different problem than yours.

You would normally be able to set this in the “customize” section under “appearance”, however for some reason this is missing from twenty twenty four.

TT4 is a block theme. Block themes don’t use the Customizer, they use the site Editor (under APPEARANCE) instead. That’s why the Customizer is hidden when using a block theme.

If you change your URL so after “/wp-admin” it reads “/customize.php”, you should be able to then select “homepage settings”, and set your home page to a static page of your choosing.

The option to set any page as the homepage continues to be under SETTINGS => READING — where it has always been long before the CUSTOMIZER even came into existence.
