We got our SchedulePress plugin all set up and got our API keys for Twitter and Facebook. Facebook seems to be working perfectly, however, we’re having issues with how it’s auto-posting to our Twitter timeline. It seems to be cutting off the excerpt and it’s different by how much gets cut off each time. It’s not an issue with the 280-character limit because if we manually post the same exact thing on Twitter itself, it will work just fine. I am not sure what is causing the issue and why I have come to you for help.

I am attaching screenshots of our SchedulePress Social Templates as well as a screenshot from one of our auto posted Twitter post (which we deleted and manually posted since it was messed up and cut off) and the manually done tweet through Twitter to show the difference.

    Hi @beermoney,

Hope you are doing well. I am sorry to hear that you are facing issues with our plugin.

In most case Twitter support that, the text content of a Tweet can contain up to 280 characters. You can check this link. And that’s why we have added support for 280 characters (including media, title, content, tags, and URL). And for this reason, your full content is not showing on your Tweets.

However, you can download and install this Dev version plugin from here. With this version plugin, max 253 characters will share on your Tweet and the rest of the others will work perfectly.

In the meantime, if you have enabled the Show Post Thumbnail option from the Social Templates settings, please disable it and then retry. Hope this will work perfectly for you.

Let us know how it goes. Thanks!

So we first tried turning off the “Show Post Thumbnail” and it didn’t make any difference. Some tweets had 0 words and others had half of them and others had almost all of them. It was always different in how much it decided to show. We could manually post on Twitter exactly what was in the excerpt it would be perfectly fine. So I still don’t think it was the 280 character limit issue here because you could manually post it the same exact thing and it worked fine.

Then I downloaded the the “dev version” you linked and tried that with the Sow Post Thumbnail turned off still and it posted perfectly fine. No issue at all. So the Dev Version worked while the Public Version seemed to do what it wanted in terms of how much it would post.

    Hi @beermoney,

Thanks for your valuable update. And good to know that your are getting ok with the Dev version.

Hopefully, we will add this fixation to our upcoming releases.

Thanks and have a good day!
