@extinctdisney We checked on your page https://www.extinctdisney.com/ and reviewed the source code and see that the twitter:card meta tag is showing as ‘summary’ and not ‘summary_large_image’ (see image here):

<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary"><meta name="twitter:title" content="Welcome Home"/><meta name="twitter:description" content="Walt Disney World is a tribute to the philosophy and life of Walter Elias Disney... and to the talents, the dedication, and the loyalty of the entire Disney org"/><meta name="twitter:image" content="https://www.extinctdisney.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/extinct-disney-logo.png"/>

If you clear your cache (server, plugin/theme, browser, or CDN such as Cloudflare) does this resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear your server cache you should speak with your host provider. We have information on how to clear your browser cache at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-clear-my-browsers-cache/.

Cleared all cache on the site/server side. Cleared browser cache (though honestly if you are seeing it set as summary – my browser wouldn’t have anything to do with it right?). I’ve even gone so far as to change it to “summary,” save changes, then change it back to “summary with large image.” Went to Twitter card validator, still shows thumbnail image.

@extinctdisney We rechecked the source code of your home page and are still seeing the twitter:card output as ‘summary.’

If you have confirmed that you have cleared the site’s cache and are still not seeing the Twitter card as using Summary with large image, the issue may be due to a plugin or theme conflicting with the Yoast SEO plugin’s output. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:

    1. Check for conflicts.
    2. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.
If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

As an update, I could not find anything that explained why this was happening. Using a “string locator” I found the file (meta.php) in my theme that housed the twitter card string and happened to notice, as I looked at it, that it referenced a plugin called “Blog2Social” that I use for posting to social media sites. In digging deeper, I was able to find that plugin had settings to set the meta data as well, and was essentially overwriting what Yoast was doing. In turning off those settings, the card now appears correctly. I am sharing this to help anyone else who happens to run into the same issue.

    Hello,
Thank you for your update. As you are mentioning Blog2Social, let me just explain this a little more. Yes, Blog2Social does provide a function for an option to use and set meta tag values inside your WordPress website. Every user has the option to disable these meta tag values easily if using another plugin for this. In general, you should always only use one value for meta tags active in your source code, otherwise social media networks cannot display your images correctly or do not display them at all. However, it is recommended to only use one plugin that sets these meta tag values. The Blog2Social meta tags make sure you can customize each of your social media posts individually, for example, to select your preferred image, edit the title or comment of your link preview. If you are interested in getting more information about customizing your Twitter Cards you can always check the Blog2Social help guide about this topic.
