    Hi,

Is there a way of adding Twitter and LinkedIn icons/links to the header or footer of my pages?

Or do I need to install a plugin, such as the floating social bar?

    Many thanks!

  • Hi there AliG. This has been a hotly requested feature. It’s on my roadmap to build an official SiteOrigin social media widget. For now, you’d need to use another plugin.

You can add individual icon widgets in page builder and place them in a colum or two or three, etc. Otherwise you can install a plugin which will hopefully also come with a widget that you can just add.

    Thanks Greg, Jose…

I’ll download a plugin and get going then… are there any recommendations?

I’m using https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/social-media-widget/ on one of my pages (with Vantage theme) and it works just fine even within pagebuilder.

If you want the icons on the header, this is how I did it:

Go to Vantage Theme Settings, click on the Logo Tab. Add the html code to the Header Text box and it’ll add the icons to your header. I had to adjust my custom Logo Image so the text and images don’t overlap, but it looks really good doing it that way. My site isn’t live or else you could look to see my example.

I had to download the logos from the internet first, add them to my media, resize them, and then link them to my actual Facebook, Twitter, etc accounts. So there is a little extra work to get it to show up on your header. In fact, I did all this on Page Builder using Black Studio TinyMCE and then just cut the html code from there and pasted it into my header text box. I’m very new at html coding and website building, so that was the easiest way for me to do it.

I hope this makes some sense.

Just a quick heads up. The next major update for Vantage (1.1 free and 2.1 premium) adds a widgetized area to the header. When used, it replaces the site info text. This should make life a little easier.

I’ve also added social icons to the premium version with some custom designed icons for all the major social networks. Great if you don’t want to rely on a separate icon.

We’re just testing the update internally right now. Hoping to release before the end of the week.

Good to hear about the update.

I will miss the site info text. I had a nice “member login” link there. I’ll see if I still want that after update.

    Hi Greg Priday,

Is the social icons on the menu area something we can do now?
