I tried to configure Twitter login.

Even though the steps are a little bit different from the instructions in the plugin, I assume it’s Twitter changed their UI or configurations as I know it could happen.

After configuration, I hit Save & Test Configuration button, the popup said it’s successful. The popup includes the message “You currently have Essential access which includes access to Twitter API v2 endpoints only. If you need access to this endpoint, you’ll need to apply for Elevated access via the Developer Portal. You can learn more here: https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/twitter-api/getting-started/about-twitter-api#v2-access-leve”.

However, when I try login, it prompts “No profile data is returned from application. Please contact your administrator.”

I’ve tried deleting the app and recreating it again, setup OAuth 1.0a only, OAuth 2.0 only, and both OAuth 1.0a and OAuth 2.0, changing Request email from users setting, and regenerating App ID and secret. Nothing is working.

Any ideas on how I can fix it?

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Twitter has recently made some changes in the UI and introduced authentication via Oauth 2.0. Our current version of the plugin supports Oauth 1.0 so you need to create a developer application with OAuth 1.0. We have upgraded our Twitter guide as per the recent UI. I am sharing the link below:
    https://plugins.miniorange.com/configure-twitter-with-social-login-in-wordpress

Please go through the instructions and let me know if it works for you.

Please let us know if you have any other questions, you can also contact us by e-mail from the plugin support form or by e-mail at the e-mail address provided on our website. This way we will be able to help you much more efficiently.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your information. I’ve contacted the support team via Email and Prashant from the support team has successfully helped me fix the issue.

The issue is because the Twitter developer account I have is Essential permission. After applying for Elevated permissions, the issue has been fixed.

Thank you very much for your help and such quick reply.

    Thanks!
