Can I offer https://newsharecounts.com as an option to track Twitter share counts? It would require user to sign-up with their Twitter account and add the website to tracking, and from then on your plugin could retrieve and display share counts. It’s free, and other plugins are already integrating such third-party services: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/super-socializer/
