    In Twitter Tools previous to this latest 3.0 upgrade, all my WordPress posts automatically were made into tweets and posted to Twitter automatically when I published or scheduled the Post.

    However now with 3.0 it seems this is not automatic anymore? Instead in the top-right corner of the Post’s Edit page I must now click “Edit” under “Social Broadcasting” and manually do this for each Post each time?

    I hope there is another way to automatically post each new Post to Twitter… is there? Am I missing a setting somewhgere to do this? My blogs have multiple authors posting many times a day and the automatic feature makes things much, much smoother and easier to administer.

    @daveslc sure that was the focus of Twitter Tools in the past. But Twitter Tools does not own Twitter and Twitter Tools has no control over Twitter. Twitter changed their API at the beginning of this month, so your old Twitter Tools and its functionality now do not do what they did before. That is why Social is now part of the mix.

    Twitter Tools now appears to do more aggregation of your tweets and posting on your own site, rather than distribution. So Social appears to be the distribution arm, and Twitter Tools is the aggregation arm. Read the developer’s website at https://alexking.org/blog/2012/10/11/twitter-tools-3-0 for more info.

    You can set up automatic broadcasts with Social:

    @alexkingorg Thank you Alex, I am looking at that now and have a question. In your image you say “Tun broadcasting on by default” but you have “No” ticked. Is that correct or should we tick “Yes”?

    If it is “Yes”, all my sites have that set exactly like you have it, but Broadcasting is not automatically being done. Instead, each time a Post is Published or Scheduled, a separate Social page will open with the contents of the Tweet and then we can go ahead and confirm the Tweet with be Published or Scheduled. In the past we could skip this second page and just confirm that if a Post was Published, the Tweet would be sure to go out as well with no further tampering.

    Now you have the ability to customize the message that is broadcast. New feature!

    @alexkingorg Hi, right I understand that and it’s a great feature.

    But is there a way to bypass that page and just have it automatically Tweeted in the background like previously? For example one of my projects is a blog network, so the main blog aggregates the child blogs and then Posts those on the main blog as well. In the past this was then automatically tweeted 24/7 but now if we want to replicate that we need someone watching the site 24/7.

    And in another project they do not want editors to have direct control over making Twitter tweet changes to the main Twitter feed, so automatically tweeting without ability to alter things is a good security protocol to follow for them. So in that case, maybe a feature in the Social Admin area would be “Would you like to be able to edit the Tweet before it is Broadcast”?

    Sounds like a potential customization. This is really a Social feature, so a discussion there would make more sense.

    @alexkingorg thank you :=)

    In the 2.XX version, any tweet from our twitter account was automatically turned into a post and published into a category of our choosing.

    Under 3.0, you have to manually go to the settings area and press Download Tweets. How can this be set to automatically happen again? Isn’t the Broadcast stuff related to WP > Twitter rather than Twitter > WP?

    I moved away to WP to Twitter. It’s hashtag friendly and I’m not too interested in importing tweets… the use of the Social plugin was a bit clunky too…

    Old Twitter Tools rocked though!
