• So I’m trying to have two installations of wordpress on the same domain with only one database. I would like these two blogs to pull the exact same content from the database, so the table prefixes should be the same in both wp-config files.

    Can this be done?

Basically, what I want to do is make a mirror site of the original that I can use a a mobile version. I’m aware that there are plugins that generate mobile versions, but I’m more inclined to having two blogs, as I’m not a php buff and having two blogs will give me more control with my limited knowledge.

I apreciate any input. Thanks in advance ??

  • I am looking for the same thing. Except my use would be for sample blogs. I would like 10 blogs with the same content but different themes. So clients could look through them and see differences in layout.

@truneh – cannot use same table prefixes, otherwise the other install will write over the other or just not work. You might consider using a plugin like https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wordpress-mobile-edition/ to render mobile content for your readers.

@ericgallagher – instead of having 10 blogs with same content just so you can show off different themes, you might want to consider using a Theme Switcher plugin so your clients can click on a link to the theme.

@mercime – But there must be some way, that I can have a wordpress blog simply pull the content from another blog’s database. I mean, if one blog can read tables with certain prefixes in a database, it must be possible to configure another to do the same…

The question is how I do it? Can anybody help me on this?
