• I would like to run two different websites from my one WP install.
    Is this possible?

I currently run https://www.oilyskinguide.com on WP, but I also want to run an new website for a vacation rental.

I have a hosting account with GoDaddy.

When I look at multi-site, it looks like I can only get a subdomain. This is no good to me as they are completely different offerings and would confuse each separate customer base.

What is the best option for me?

Thank you in advance for any help.

  • Hey there,

Actually, you can do exactly what you want to do with Multisite! All you need to do is use a plugin that is super common and popular called Domain Mapping. What this allows you to do is have a separate website with its own custom domain that is just mapped to your subdomain.

    Here it is:

I have a Multisite with a lot of separate different websites , each with their very own domains. Hope this helps!

    Hi Mike
    Thanks for the reply.
Do I still need to install multi-site then and get the network going?
So then I would create a sub-domain and then point my DNS for my new website name and map it over to the sub-domain?

Now why didn’t I think of that!?

Please do tell me I got that right though with my thinking there?

Do you have an easy peasy guide to installing multisite. I am no coder etc but can follow dummy instructions.
Maybe a good video or something that I can play on my ipad and pause as I do the exact actions I need to do to install multi-site on my PC?
    Thank you
    Sarah

    Hey Sarah,

You are exactly right in your thinking. This is how it works! ?? Here is one of many guides you can find by googling how to enable Multisite:

    https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/resources/the-complete-guide-to-creating-a-wordpress-multisite-installation

Hopefully that will help you out. No need to be a coder by any means. Just be sure to remember to install and configure the domain mapping plugin correctly after you have enabled Multisite and created a subdomain. Good luck!
