Two event lists: with and without excerpt

    First of all, thanks for this awesome plugin! I managed to adjust some things and now it’s exactly displaying events the way I like it. I use eo-events to display a small, simple list of the upcoming 5 events. I adjusted class-eo-event-list-widget.php to display date, %event_title% %event_excerpt% as the output. Works like a charm!

    But now I would like to use the same list of 5 events on the frontpage, but only without %event_excerpt% to keep it even more simple. Is there an easy way to do this?
    I tried to duplicate the class-eo-event-list-widget.php and create a new sort of shortcode where everything is the same but without the excerpt, but without good results. The code is too difficult for me. Any help highly appreciated!

    Hi Ties-blgs,

    You don’t need to adjust the code. The widget provides a template (a placeholder, not file) option. You can including %event_excerpt% in one instance of a widget and %event_title% in another (along with any other tags you want – see the bottom of this page for available tags).

    Thanks Stephen, that sounds hopeful. But I use the shortcode in a widget. Is it possible to call the title in one shortcode for widget X and the title + excerpt in another for widget Y?

    Sorry about the link :S. You found the right page though :).

    I’m not sure I understand what you mean about the titles. But you can add multiple instances of a widget to your sidebars. These can have different settings between the instances. So you can add two copies of the widget to a sidebar, give them different titles, and use different tags.
