I have turned off two-factor authentication for all sites but it is still active.
The emails often go to spam because they come from an email address that does not exist.
At least one client has asked me to remove the plugin because of this issue.

Please, make sure you are using latest version of the Security plugin:

You can set Two-factor authentication for chosen roles in the plugin’s options to off to disable 2FA.

I had the same issue. This is unbelievable. Why for heaven’s sake would you keep a plugin function active even after deactivating it? In addition to that it showed the missing API key message. It disappeared after deleting the plugin. This is not acceptable. I will rate the plugin one star for this. Stop this!

If 2FA is disabled in the plugin’s then it doesn’t work. Set two-factor authentication for chosen roles to off (WP Admin-> Settings -> Security by CleanTalk -> General Settings tab). Also, check your CleanTalk Dashboard settings:

I am sorry for this issue and thank you for feedback.

1. Please make sure that you have disabled option,
WordPress console -> Settings -> Security by CleanTalk -> General settings -> ‘Two-factor authentication for chosen roles.’ -> Off.

2. If you still see the 2FA window. Is there message like this ‘CleanTalk’s Security authorization code’ or something else?

Nope, it was definitely your plugin. The email reads:

The authentification code for user “M***” on “www.***” website is 531001
Lifetime of the code 5 minutes.
CleanTalk’s Security: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/security-malware-firewall

I had to delete the plugin to remove both 2FA and the missing API key message.
