Two problems with tabs plugins. Help with either one?

Sorry if it’s already been touched on, and sorry if I’m not supposed to post two problems on the same thread, but they are closely related. After extensive searching, I couldn’t find anything anywhere on the web that mentions either problem.

The WP UI plugin looks perfect, and I’d like to use it for the tabs, but when I activate it, the slider just disappears. Anyone know what’s going on?

The theme is “REVEL” from mojothemes. They have their own tabs but the way it’s designed doesn’t work for our purposes.

I deactivated the WP UI plugin, and now I’m trying Post UI Tabs, which also looks like it would serve the purpose. However, it also doesn’t work. When I try to change the UI skin in the plugin settings, it doesn’t do anything. I saved it and it shows the tabs in the control panel, but the page just shows the same green and blue tabs, which aren’t going to work for us.

Any help with either of these two problems would be greatly appreciated. I’d rather not have to code my own tabs or keep trying plugins.
