• Hi,

We have nearly completed a site using WP Members for a society but at the last minute they’ve asked if it’s possible to merge the site with a sister society and have two separate members areas functioning side-by-side.

So there would be two separate admin areas where each societies members details would be stored and where content could be protected independently of the other admin area etc.

This is quite a last-minute request and my guess is that it’s not possible. I can’t see a workaround which would allow it and so I guess this would be a custom project.

Anyone done this please? Would the developer be interested in quoting for the work perhaps? That said, bespoke projects on WordPress are usually not a great plan as it doesn’t make for compatibility when the core updates etc.

    Thanks for any ideas.
    Dave

You can separate user access based on membership. So what I would recommend is that you create a membership for one group, and a different membership for the other group and tag the user access based on the membership they should have.

Similarly, for content, you can restrict it by the membership that should be allowed to access it.

That looks like it will solve the issue at the front-end so that members of each group only see their assigned posts – great, thank you!

Presumably there is no simple solution to having separate members lists in admin which can only be accessed by defined users? i.e. admin user A can only see list A, admin user B can only see list B. I guess that would be a bespoke job?

    Thanks again for your help.
