    Hello-

I recently switched from Yoast SEO to SmartCrawl and imported the Yoast settings through the setup wizard. When I view my sitemaps through the plugin, I notice that there may be duplicates.

Within the plugin, if I click to view the sitemaps it takes me here. Within that page, there are three sitemaps – each has a “1” at the end of the URL. Thinking that was odd, I changed the URL to remove the “1” to see where it would resolve. At that page, I can see there is another sitemap that is slightly different. Here’s one example: page sitemap with “1” in the URL, compared to page sitemap without “1” in the URL.

I assume having two sets of sitemaps can’t be good for the site’s SEO. How can I resolve this duplication?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @aaschere,

Trust you are doing good and sorry to know that you are experiencing this issue.

We encountered a similar issue previously when the websites had the WPML plugin enabled. However, this problem was resolved in a previous update.

Could you please clear all the cache, run a new crawl and check if that helps to resolve the issue?

If the issue persists, could you please perform a complete conflict test on a staging website and let us know the results? A staging website is a copy of your live website in a new directory on the same server using a separate database.

I hope the following flowchart comes in handy: https://wpmudev.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Support-Process-Support-Process.gif

We look forward to hearing back from you.

    Kind Regards,

Thanks for the information. I’ve cleared the cache, but can you instruct me how to initiate a new crawl? Looks like Crawler is a “pro” feature?

I will go ahead and close this ticket. I switched my sites back to the Yoast SEO plugin and the issue with duplicate sitemaps was resolved immediately.

    Hello @aaschere,

I hope you’re doing good today!

I’ve cleared the cache, but can you instruct me how to initiate a new crawl? Looks like Crawler is a “pro” feature?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes, the sitemap crawler is available in the Pro version. In free version you can just re-generate sitemap instead of re-crawling, by re-saving settings on the “General Sitemap” tab.

I switched my sites back to the Yoast SEO plugin and the issue with duplicate sitemaps was resolved immediately.

Glad to hear the issue has been resolved. In case you’d like our further assistance with SmartCrawl, please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime!

    Best Regards,
    Dmytro
