    One of my buyers made two transactions, one after the other. They were for the same sum of money and the buyer’s details were the same. But only one appeared in my Cart Orders and only one seller’s email was sent out. So one sale was not recorded at all.

    Looking through the log file, I see both transactions, but they have the same [wp_cart_id] number. Why does this happen, and how can I stop it?

    Thank you.

    Hi, can you give me an example of the two numbers? I am a bit curious.

    Thank you

    Certainly.

    The ID number as it appears in Cart Orders is 1682. The ID number for the same order as it appears in the seller email is 25Y43421TP6004348.

    The ID number in the log file is the same as in Cart Orders.

    Can you carry out a test. Set up a test page with a product for 1 dollar. Can you purchase it or get a friend or family member to purchase this product. Then check to see if the ID is the same.

    Done that. The transaction ID in Cart Orders is 1710. The transaction ID in the seller’s email is 29C04741W8776493X.

    Hi, I am not sure about the ID order number. The plugin developers will investigate further your issue.

    Kind regards

    It is very likely that PayPal did a duplicate charge when the user hit the “Pay” button on PayPal’s site. On very rare occassions PayPal does it (usually if the buyer’s browser had a hiccup at that time).

    Confirm with your buyer that he/she did ONLY ONE transaction. Then ask PayPal support why there was a duplicate charge for the same transaction and they should be able to investigate and give you better details as this is more of a PayPal thing.

    I was confusing “Order ID” with “Transaction ID” and now understand that they are different.

    In the case of the two orders that had the same Order ID (one order did not appear on the Order ID page at all), my understanding is that they were two separate transactions, minutes apart, from the same buyer at the same address and IP address. Two different credit cards were used. The orders definitely arrived at the plug-in, because they are in the log, where they appear with the same Order ID number.

    Anyway, the money went through, which is the main thing.

    @maharishi is your issue resolved?

    I’m still puzzled by it but am putting it down to a PayPal glitch. It hasn’t recurred. Thanks for your help.
