• I posted this in the Multisite forum too, but no answers as of yet, and I am despirate for some help.

I was wondering if anyone can offer up some advice on the best way to setup two wordpress installations: one for portfolio and one for blog.

I currently have one being setup for the portfolio but the theme being used for that, I am not too keen on the look and feel of the blog section, so I am wanting to have a seperate installation of a different theme for the blog.

What is the best way of going about this?

    Thank you very much!

  • You’d probably be best off just modifying the blog template or look of one theme – having multiple installations will be much more work, and integrating them isn’t usually simple.

That said, you could have a separate install of the blog one in a sub-directory – https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

But again, integrating it may be somewhat complicated and you’d also need to maintain both separate sites.

BTW, duplicate threads are against the forum rules – so your other one was deleted. If you want this one moved to multisite, we can do that, but you can’t have two identical threads open and I kind of doubt multisite is what you want. This might be useful in addressing that question – https://halfelf.org/2011/dont-use-wordpress-multisite/

Why thank you! That is ok the the other is deleted – I wasnt sure if this is a multisite question, doesn’t seem to be.

I’m not sure how much integration I need between the two sites. i dont need an update of one site to be displayed on another site. so, that being said, i think maybe just a sub-domain with another instal could suffice.

    Thanks for the help.
