UI Enhancements (Bulk and Rename 1 by 1)

I think a one-by-one edit should still exist, but in a bit different way: a small Ajax script should do things in the main list, with a link under each photo and not to go from the file list. Like fast editing comments, edit on the spot and get the result there, too. On previous version I had to use lots of tabs (I add many pictures to a post, so they appear on many pages in this list) to rename my pictures and not search each time for the remaining ones. I never use the same name for all, it makes no SEO sense; names should be relevant to also the content of the picture, so cannot do it only bulk.

I just gave version 3.1 a shot on a development site with just 70 media files for now. All the methods for renaming seems to work fine.

In my opinion, you can remove the “rename 1 by 1” section. Having the same functionality in two places is somewhat confusing. I usually fix bad titles directly in the media library or when editing media, so that is where I expect the Rename button to be.

It locates settings under Settings > Media, puts a link to bulk compression under Media and has a button for single image compression in the Media Library. That’s all seems quite logical to me. Great plugin btw – especially if you use PNG screenshots a lot.

@conualfy So if I understand you well, the perfect solution would be to have a additional icon to rename the file manually, or to rename the title of the media? (which might rename the name of the file depending on the option) – without leaving not reloading the Media Library?

Not reloading the media library, yes. I would have needed now to edit lots of pics, with many groups in one post and I chose to have them as IMG_** because it was too much work like it is now.
