Ultimate post not working

I’m new to wordpress,and I wanted to make an sidebar with the latests post in the category “news”, but when I edit the ultimate post to show the posts in that category (or any other), with some more options (show title, excert, etc…), the side bar do not show.
I used the default sidebar (Primary Widget Area), if I use an diferent widget in that area (Pages,Post, Categories,…) it works, but when I use the Ultimate Posts one, it make the sidebar disapear if applied.Searched and didn’t found a solution, some talk about the wp_head, but don’t say what about it, what to do with it, what code use or how to configure, just that used the “wp_head” solution, what is the “wp_head” solution itself?
