UM Approve Membership Role Still Pending

  • I have installed UM 2.0.17 and am struggling with user roles.

    In my WP settings, my default new user role is Member.
    When I add register a new user with the UM registration form, I can see the new user in the table. The role is set to “Pending.” On the Users page, when I select the user and use the UM Action dropdown to “Approve User” the user is marked as approved, but the role remains Pending, which means the user will not have access to the pages I am working to control with the user role.

    If the Approve Membership doesn’t change the user role, I guess I don’t really understand what the approval does.

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi @ktrontx,

    Can you please clarify what do you have in “Registration options” in Ultimate member -> User roles -> your user role e.g. Member? Do you have any other membership plugins instaled? Please try to do a quick conflict test so we can rule out conflicts with other plugins or your theme and see if this issue goes away. Here is the doc on how to do a conflict test if you are not sure how to do it.

    Thanks for your reply. I have tried several combinations without the expected result:

    Registration Status: Auto Approve with the Pending role set to Require Admin Review

    Registration Status: Require Admin Review with Pending role set to Auto Approve

    Registration Status: Require Admin Review with Pending role set to Require Admin Review

    I have also tried deleting the pending role, but it was automatically re-created so then I felt confident it was supposed to be there.

    I will test the action without any other plugins to see if a conflict is causing the issue and will update this thread.
