"Umlaute" and Umlauts

NextGen Gallery fails to upload and create images if the name of those contain an umlaut (?, ?, ü) – this is especially for approx. 10 million german users annoying.Could you do something about that?
A quick solution would be to check wether a umlaut is contained in the name and if yes, change it e.g. from ? to ae.
