    We’ve just launched a fashion and lifestyle blog called Un Lys! It’s based on the deGusto theme from Themeshift but with lots of modifications. (Including changing the dark colored theme to a light color version, as well as the random background – you might need to click around to see the different versions!)

  • I like to format I dont like th background design. Since its a fashion blog should be something more up to date (hope that made sense)

    Thanks for your comment miss infamous! The background is randomly chosen from designs the author of the site has chosen. I’ll tell her about your comment. Would you mind clarifying what “up to date” means?

    Well I went to istockphoto.com and looked at images that related to ‘fashion’ and incorporated that in my background for my blog (which I had to hire a web designer) something that stands out from the rest of the fashion blogs because there are thousands out there

    I see – the backgrounds we’ve chosen are what the author’s looking for. Plus we’ve looked at the stock images at both istockphoto and shutterstock and these are what we settled on. I guess we’re just shooting for a different style I guess ?? Thanks for the feedback though!

    I like the design in general, but I sort of agree with miss infamous on the background design…it confuses a bit too much. My personal preference would be no background design at all, or barring that something extremely subtle.

    Also, the google ads seem to take up a lot of screen real estate in the ‘bubble box’ they’re in. If there were a way to reduce the size of the surrounding box, and maybe move it up above the top teaser box, it might work better.

    Just IMHO! Your mileage may vary. ??

    Thanks for the comment gizmo! Yea I’ve got others thinking the google ad placement on the frontpage. I’ve removed it for now and I’ll think of other better ways to put ads on the site.

    I’ll think of something about the background but those are what the author of the site selected personally. But we’ll figure it out to make it less distracting.

    I like it, I just don’t quite get the name Un Lys as it relates to fashion…

    Un Lys means “A Lily” in French ?? It’s something the author of the site personally loves. Also Un Lys is a fragrance by Serge Lutens of Palais Royal Shiseido in Paris. You can check out this post for more: https://un-lys.com/2010/03/un-lys-eau-de-parfum/
