• Hi everyone, I’m experiencing this problem after a fresh install of WordPress. I’m reinstalling wordpress on a different slot of the same hosting company I’ve used before. It’s a new database and everything.

    The Problem

    my site: https://www.dylanjohnpierce.com

Every time I use wp-login.php to log in it simply redirects me to the homepage. But it doesn’t recognize that I’ve logged in. This includes trying to get in via \wp-admin. It will still reload the homepage without the admin panel at the top.

    What I’ve tried

    • Fresh Install with new database
    • Deleting and reuploading a new wp-login.php
    • checking for a .htaccess file, but there is none
    • deleting the wp-config file and reuploading a new one with a secret key generated
    • checking the DNS redirect, it rediects to “https://www.dylanjohnpierce.com/”
    • clearing cache and cookies, also trying a different browser and finally a different computer

I’m so close to actually being able to work for a client, once I get this figured out I can start working.

  • hmmmm… why the WWW redirect? remove that and retry login see if any different. Also have you contacted the host to see if they have any insight? and is this on a shared hosting server? if so ensure you have no .htaccess file located above your root directory. Let us know ??

    Thanks for responding alvaw,

I wondered that myself and tried removing the “www.” from my URL but it broke the .css of wordpress and I experienced the “too many redirects” error message.

I’ve looked in the root of the wordpress install and the “public_html” and the “www” root folder, no sign of a .htaccess file.

Also, I’ve tried renaming the Twenty-Eleven theme to “Twenty-Eleven.hold” to force WP to use Twenty-Ten but no luck. It just breaks WP completely.

hmmmm this is odd. Lets get this info also

    1. HOST
    2. PHP VERSION
    3. MYSQL VERSION
    4. ARE YOU DOING MANUAL OR HOST AUTO INSTALLER?

LINK? < always helpful if you can or tweet it to me @alvaw3 but you have to follow me to DM it

    any luck you Blobdylan
