• When I log in to the site I get the view that appears when clicking on “visit site” in the dashboard. In other words, I see the home page with the admin menu on the right and the dashboard menu on the left. However, these menus are not active, neither responds, so I can’t proceed.

This started with the password not being accepted when I tried to log in. I received a new one and what I describe is the result when I log in. I have the same site in Polish and that responds correctly with the password that I had created some time ago.

I have little experience with WordPress, mainly working with the HTML.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Thank you for the quick response. Now I get the message “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” It will take me a while to get access to the server – I’ll post the results once I get there.

I finally have access to my website via FTP.

I tried manually resetting the plugins using the FTP method provided but I did not get into the plugins page. As far as I know I can’t use the phpMyAdmin method because I do not have access at the level above the website <root>. As far as I know I have only the Akismet plugin.

the theme I am using is Freshnews. When I change the name of the directory I get a blank window.

Is there a way to upload images to show what I see? When I log in I see the introductory window for the website and above that is one line of the dashboard menu but the menu is inactive. For example, I see “Howdy Admin” on the right side but clicking on that does nothing.

As I said earlier I have a second site that should be almost identical except the English site has more uploaded content. All plugins, themes organization are the same.

Where do I go from here?
