For the past 2 days, I’ve been getting the following error message when trying to access my WordPress site:

“There has been a critical error on this website.”

I successfully accessed it after making my most recent changes so I suspect the problem is due to a system error rather than recent edits.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks for your quick reply. No, I did not make any php edits.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. Hopefully, this will force the default theme to activate and rule out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

I had same problem on my site and I resolved it by deactivating plugins by one by. I found the plugin that was caused this problem and removed it.

Thanks for sharing your experience. How did you get access to your dashboard to deactivate your plugins? I am currently unable to access my dashboard.

Please follow the steps linked to in my reply above, @shuddles .

As mentioned there, “no Dashboard access required.”
