• Hi,
I clicked the automatic update button for the current wordpress version. After a while it failed and I am now unable to log in to wp-admin and get the following message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_network_admin() in /home/booksonc/public_html/wp-admin/admin-header.php on line 16

The update was an impulsive action so I hadn’t saved or backed up anything!
Any ideas what I can do to gain access and not loose anything?
    Many thanks for your help.
    Richard

  • You will need to update manually as once automatic update fails it corrupts files

Ok, thanks for your fast help.

    you are welcome

I have the same problem, and found this thread from searching for solutions. I did the manual upgrade and and still can’t log into the user panel. Any other solutions?

I had a look at manually upgrading but frankly it all looks too complex for me. I even fall at the first hurdle when instructed to disable widgets – with no access to wp-admin?

So, I’m not happy with my hosting company so I’ll point the site to another host I’ve got space with, install the current version of wp and start again. It’ll be quicker for me to build a new site! Sorry it’s not what you want to hear Stevie B.

Hi I had similar problems yesterday when my automatic upgrade failed. It put my site into maintenance meaning I couldn’t access my site or log in to my dash board. Luckily I had already found the following that might be of use to you guys?

    Hope it helps ??

    Thanx Emma.

    It’s solved for me now!

I went into cpanel, clicked on fantastico. It told me the current version of wp with a link to upgrade. Click upgrade and the new version of wp was installed in a minute with access regained to wp-admin.

    Phew!!

EmmaAlexandra, I followed the instructions in the link and used my FTP client to delete the maintenance and upgrade thing and STILL can’t access the dashboard from logging into the site directly.

I also got this problem, but can see the login pagen but don’t log, and can’t access dashboard. When I try to login, I get this message: Fatal error Class ‘WP_List_Table’ not found in …wordpress/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/manage-images.php on line 646.

This begins when I tried to deactivate and remove NexGen. After clicked in Remove, the dashboard page didn’t reload, and opened a empty page with only this message (ahead). Now, I can see the login page, but it not opens Dashboar, just a error message. How can I fix it?

    Thanks for a help.

    @betonave

Do one thing. Use a FTP program and navigate to wp-content/plugins and delete the nextgen gallery plugin.

Now you should be able to login to your Dashboard.

    Worked!! Thank you very much!!!
