Unable to add new image to media library

    Just building WP.org website using WP 2017 theme. For some reason, I’m unable to upload any images to my Media Library. The upload stalls out and an error message reads:

    “blackfishsound-sized-440×544-optimized.jpg The server cannot process the image. This can happen if the server is busy or does not have enough resources to complete the task. Uploading a smaller image may help. Suggested maximum size is 2560 pixels.”

    I had no issues uploading images yesterday, yet this morning I do.
    I currently have only 1 image sitting in my media library.

    I called my host, GoDaddy, and there are no issues/errors related to my website on their end, and they suggested that it may be a WP issue.

    I’ve attempted to resolve the issue by deleting the only loaded plugin (nextgen), yet it did not resolve the issue.
    I also tried changing my WP theme to 2022, and that did not resolve the issue.

    UPDATE:
    Image upload to media library from my iPad works, yet does not work from 3 different browsers on my labtop. I wonder if there is something in my laptop setting that is blocking uploads…just have no idea where to find it.

    It’s possible you’re uploading files that are so big that it takes the server too long to process them. WordPress makes 4 different sized copies of each image you upload.

    iOS (on the iPad) often doesn’t give you the full sized original, but rather a downsampled version. I found this with my phone.

    Take one of the images that doesn’t work, resize it to something like 2560 wide, and try uploading that. If that works then the server simply doesn’t have the oomph to process the really big ones.

    Image size is not the issue. All images are optimized to website prior to uploading, and are about 120kb.

    I’m now able to upload… Tried clearing the browser’s cookies and cache and it seemed to have worked. Not sure if that was the issue, but I’m happy I can upload again.
