When I try to add a new user WP reports “New user created.” together with an “Edit user” link. The new users username is not included in the current list of users and clicking on the ‘Edit user’ link returns “Invalid user ID”. This is driving me mad! I am logged in as an Administrator and have checked that all administrator capabilities are checked eg create users, add users etc. It’s a very long time since I added a user, do they need to respond to an email before they are added as a user? No emails have been received at the new user’s address. Help!

Aplogies, I forgot to add that as Administrator each time I try to add the new user I receive an e-mail saying:

New user registration on your site :

    Username:

    Email:

As you see both the Username and email are blank!

If you look in the wp_users table via phpmyadmin, is the use being added with name, email, etc?

While in phpmyadmin, check and repair the wp_users and wp_usermeta tables. See if that helps.

If not, this may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

Thanks for your response. The new user did not appear in the wp_users table. I did however disable all plugins and was then able to add the new user. I haven’t got the time now to activate them one at a time and test adding a new user to find the culprit (27 plugins). I’m just pleased to have been able to add the new user and move on. Thanks.
