unable to add / search for new themes in dashboard

  • I get this error after I login to my dashboard, go to appearance -> theme and then select Add New — only thing that displays in the area where themes should be displayed is an error message –>

    <strong>An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums</strong>.

    the option of searching for a new theme has always worked up until now with latest release. so I think something has happened between 4.4.2 and 4.5 to cause a break in communication between the theme site repository and the dashboard. I wonder if anyone else is having issues.

    I also get an odd error message that ini_set() is disabled message on the main dashboard page. I don’t have debugging on as I do not use it.
