    Hello,

After spending 84 hours trying to figure out something that I imagine should be very simple, I’m at a loss.

I’m using the ONA theme. I’ve customized all the theme templates. When I go to Pages > Select the Page > Quick Edit > Template Dropdown Menu, only about half of the templates appear in the list as an option to apply to the page. And, only some of the templates in the list actually work.

When I view the page, it’s a blank page. It looks completely different than the template I’ve customized and saved.

    1. Is there a way to make ALL of the theme templates appear in the dropdown menu?
    2. Is there a way to fix / apply the ones that aren’t working?

I’ve tried reinstalling the theme via WP Themes 4 times.

I’ve tried downloading the theme zip file and uploading to WP.

    Is there something I’m missing??

    Hi,

When editing templates in Appearance > Editor not all of these templates will show up in the page template dropdown menu. Only templates that can be used by pages will appear there. Can you provide more details about what are you trying to achieve and attach some screenshots?

We’re planning to make some educational videos on how the template system works because we’ve noticed that some users struggle to understand it and unfortunately WordPress makes it look even harder. You have to have a basic knowledge of template hierarchy and an understanding of how Full Site Editing works before working with FSE themes.

    Thank you for your reply.

I’m trying to revise my “Archive” page. I gave up on trying to use the Archive Template and tried it with the “Single Projects” template, but the same issue is occurring. I just don’t understand why all of my other pages are working but not this one.

And, I keep getting an error message when I try to upload screenshots here.

“File uploading is disabled. Please use an image block and an external image URL.” when I try to upload an image into the image block.

Thanks for trying to help. I’ll use a different theme that’s more user-friendly.

If you have a page named Archive it can conflict with the existing archive template. Archive template is responsible for displaying list of posts, for example all of your blog posts or blog categories.

Please note that the theme is just displaying the templates in the correct hierarchy order – https://developer.www.ads-software.com/themes/basics/template-hierarchy/

So in this case, it’s not a user-friendly problem with theme, but the Full Site Editing system that WordPress introduced.
