    Hi @balpreet90,

Sorry to hear there are some problems generating a backup of your website and we will do everything we can to help you get them working!

That particular error message indicates that the backup process was terminated in a manner that prevented Total Upkeep from gathering any kind of error information, which generally means that there was some kind of hosting limitation that was exceeded.

We have an article in our support center that provides some additional troubleshooting steps to use when that error message is returned, but the first thing I would try is changing the Backup Compressor to System Zip under Total Upkeep > Settings > Backup Process in your WordPress dashboard. Switching to System Zip usually mitigates some of the resource issues associated with other compressors and I hope that solution works for you as well!

    Hi,

I am unable to see System zip in the option and still I’m having issues with backups.
I contacted my hosting provider and they already increased the size from backend, but don’t know why still I am unable to get backup. Please help.

    Regards,

Hi Balpreet, sorry to hear that there are still some problems making a backup.

The next thing that I would do is create a Sanity Check backup and doing this will help determine if the problem is related to the volume of files or some kind of plugin malfunction.

Then, if the Sanity Check backup is successful, turn on the Filelist Analysis tool. It is possible that there are some unwanted large files getting included in the backup and the Filelist Analysis will help determine if that is the case.

Another thing that you could try is to disable FastCGI in the web server PHP configuration. If System Zip does not appear to be available for your website then one of the PHP based backup processes will be used and disabling FastCGI could allow them to start functioning as expected.

Please let us know how it goes Balpreet!

    Hi Balpreet

It’s been about two weeks now and we haven’t heard back from you, that leads me to believe the issue has been “resolved,” so I’m marking it down as such. Please reach back out to us if you are still in need of further assistance.
