Unable to bid on auctions

Hi,

Plugin only allows registered users to bid. So, if you have a wordpress site, if someone wants to place bids on auctions made live by you, then he needs to first register on your site and then login and place bids. This would prevent junk bids and will ensure healthy auctions where you could administer your users.

It does, but I don’t think I recalled seeing that anywhere. This is being used for a fundraiser for my theatre company, so making people register on WordPress when they don’t have a wordpress account themselves is a little cumbersome. I know this is a long shot, but I’ll have to ask: is there any workaround?

Plus, it isn’t re-directing to a page to be able to create an account. It just asks them to log in. The problem is that you don’t know where to go from there to even create an account.

Does the Pro version force this as well?

Perhaps instead of a login system, there could be a captcha system?

Does the Pro version have a login system that doesn’t give users total access to my whole website?

1) Your users would not be registering on WordPress.com .. they would be registering on YOUR SITE ONLY.
2) The registration process can be made relatively quick and painless .. I just put up an Ultimate Auction WP site for my kids’ school fundraiser .. it’s working well. 3) WordPress, when a logged in user is a requirement, redirects to the Login Page .. they must then click REGISTER which is below the user/pass boxes .. you may want to send users a START page LINK which is directly to the register page (or custom register page if you install above plugin) .. presumably you currently have NO users, so everyone needs to be registered, so sending EVERYONE a “Start Here” page would make sense.
4) I’m not sure of the Pro version features exactly, but I personally feel safer having it be a closed community of registered users bidding on our charity items. I believe that the UltAuc plugin used to be open for all to bid, but there was discussion in this forum to force registration, which, as I mentioned, I prefer.

Last point .. if your users aren’t registered, how exactly do you know who bid and who’s email the bid notifications should go to? An auction does not work with a single login.

This is how my plugin works, there could be workaround and you are most welcome to download the plugin and make the modifications. PRO pops up an option to login and register, see here: https://demo.auctionplugin.net but you should not just buy it for this reason.
