• Hello,

I have noticed that after the update to Storefront version 2.0.0 I am unable to change the background color of the header on my website.

Unfortunately, my site is in ‘Coming Soon’ mode, so others are unable to view the issue. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or knows of a fix? Thank you.

  • Hmm, could you describe the issue in detail, specifically the steps you take to find it and exactly what happens?

IE. Are you doing this in the Customizer? Does the color selector work ok? Is your chosen color simply not saving? Stuff like that ??

I’ve checked a couple of sites and changing the header background color works just fine.

Hey james thanks for the reply.

The problems is actually just as you describe. I am using the Customizer, and the color selector works alright, but when I choose a color and select ‘Save and Publish,’ the chosen color doesn’t save.

In addition, I tried uploading a header image as well, and had the same issue. The preview of the image displays fine, but after clicking ‘Save and Publish,’ it doesn’t save.

    Thanks again for your help!

Are you running the latest version of WordPress? I’m afraid it will be quite tricky to debug this without a log in.

The only other thing I can suggest is deactivating your plugins/child theme to check for conflicts.

Alright James, thanks. I am running the latest version of WordPress, I just updated today and that’s when the issue started. I’ll start going through my plugins/child theme.

    Hi tharrisadamaxinc,

I just tried on my own site and the background color change works without any issues. I agree with jay it sounds like it’s probably a plugin/child theme or maybe some other Custom CSS you have on your site that’s not letting the change take effect.

Let us know what you find!

    Cheers,

    Hey guys,

Just to let you know I did discover the issue, it was with the custom child theme that I had created. Thanks so much for your help with this!

    Cheers

    You’re welcome ??

    Hi,
care to elaborate more what’s with the custom child theme?
How exactly did you solve this problem?
    thnx.

    Hey wilsoneden,

I had created a child theme in order to customize some things on my site, but after to the updates to WordPress/Storefront, something was causing issues within my child theme.

In order to fix my issue, I disabled my child theme and created a new one after the update was installed, and then I was free to make alterations to my site as per normal, including the aforementioned error with my header.

I understand that not everyone will be able to solve their issues this way, but this is what has worked for me. Good luck!

    Cheers

tharrisadamaxinc I am having the same issue. I confirm that this has something to do with my child theme because when i customize the original(parent) theme, i can save the header background color but with the child theme activated, it reverts back to the native color once I click on save and publish.

I tried to delete the child theme and create a new one again but still not working. Can you please tell me which child theme creator plugin you are using.

Let me also point out that i am having the same issue with the footer background color

    Thank you

    Hey Kaishav,

I’m using the Child Theme Configurator plugin to create my child theme.

Like I said before, I had to delete my child theme after updating, and then I used that plugin to create a new one. After everything was updated, the issue was solved for me.

Do you have a link to your site? That might help diagnose the problem for the folks here.

    Good luck with your issue!

    Cheers

    Thank you tharrisadamaxinc

I was using another plugin for Child Theme. I tried the one you gave me and it works fine. I can now change header and footer background color and changes are being saved.

    Thanks again

Just posting to say a thanks @mikeyarce, another background color changing plugin was causing the issue for me.

    Thanks!!!

    Hi, guys

I run into the same problem and tried to change child theme, disable plugins … but without luck. I could see the header background color changed from “Customizer” but that does not reflect to the actual site page. Here is my website link:

    Thanks,

    Hi alaa401,

If I look at your sourcecode, you are not using this forums theme ( Storefront ) but this themeforest one if I am not mistaken?: https://themeforest.net/item/official-multiconcept-wordpress-theme-rtl/8852473

I would suggest getting help at their support or follow the offial guidlines here:
