Unable to change site name and description

  • Dear all,

    I have a strange problem with my wordpress installation. It is not possible to change the name of the site. If I do, it says “settings saved” and the name jumps back to default.

    I have been trying to do it in settings->general. Also my theme options contain a possibility to change the name of the site, but it’s the same result. Doesn’t work.

    It is definitively not a memory limit issue, since I have a dedicated server and the system requirements are all met.

    Since everything else on the website is working perfectly well, I was wondering if there is a manual way to change the website name? Maybe through downloading a file via ftp and changing that manually?

  • One thing to try if you have access to the database.
    Go to the options table and look for entry 2 (blogname) and 3 (blogdescription).
