I already posted this in the ‘themes’-forum, but I think it is more appropriate to post here…

I last installed a new theme around february of this year.

Recently I upgraded my blog to 2.7, and installed a local ‘try-out’ version on my own machine, and started adapting another theme (so on the local server).
Today I wanted to install it on my ‘official’ blog, but it turned out it was impossible to change my theme.

When I click on the new theme, I shortly see the dark-gray background, and then the preveiw of the new theme shows up, but without the black border where you find ‘activate -new theme-‘.
I already tried reinstalling 2.7 (maybe there was some file missing?), but this didn’t solve the problem.

So it seems I’m stuck with my ‘old’ layout.

    Anybody who has a suggestion?

  • did your new theme work fine on your local install?

when you say you reinstalled 2.7, what do you mean. Did you just upload the files overtop of what you already had or did you delete everything (after making a backup of course) and start fresh. You may want to try going into your themes directory and deleting all themes but the default and classic just to see if you can get it to work that way.

Yes, my theme works fine on my local install.
It seems not a problem that is related to the new theme, since it’s just impossible to change to whichever theme that’s installed.

And no, I didn’t delete everything, but installed overtop of the old 2.7 install. However, after your reply I did it the ‘thorough’ way, and deleted the old files. Still no change.

Then, as you suggested, I deleted all my themes. (At first, I just renamed the chosen theme, which resulted in a blank page. No error message, no default theme, nothing….)
After deleting everything but the default and classic theme, with the same result: a blank page.

Maybe I should try to desactivate one by one all my plugins…

    Yes!
    I found the wrong-doer…
I desactivated all my plugins, which made it possible again to change themes. Re-activating the plugins one-by-one revealed that the problem was caused by HeadSpace2.
