I am unable to successfully send an test email with what appears to be correct configuration for gmail smtp.

From my Connectivity Test, I see that both smtp.gmail.com:587 and smtp.gmail.com:465 are set to “Open”.

Every test email I send results in:

    Checking your settings
Sending Test Email to [email protected]
    Email Status : Not Sent

    Debugging Output :

From Email should be of same account used to create the Client Id.

Your Web Host provider may have installed a firewall between you and the server.
Contact the admin of the server and ask if they allow outgoing communication on port 25,465,587.
It seems like they are blocking certain traffic. Ask them to open the ports.

    Thanks for any help offered.

I can get this working only by setting the “Email Address” field on the Email Setup screen to match the address used to set up my OAUTH account at Google API console.

However, emails are now not being sent from the “From Email Configuration” that I have set to override.

    Hi,

Sorry, but GMail does not over-write the From header on outgoing mail.

When you send a message through Gmail’s SMTP with an unknown From address, Gmail replaces it with that account’s primary address.

To avoid that, you need to define the From address in Gmail, as a custom From address. Go to Settings->Accounts, and add the address under “Sent mail as”. Then, Gmail will permit you to use that address.

    Hope that makes sense!

    Thanks
