I’m unable to configure the Wordfence Firewall on a new installation of WordPress.

When I select the “Click here to configure” button on the top of the Firewall page, the section on the next page to begin the process is mostly hidden beneath the navbar containing < Back to Firewall … Restore Defaults … etc.

When I select the Enable Firewall button, located within the Wordfence Firewall Deactivated section, a pop-up window appears which states “an error occurred while saving the configuration”.

I’ve installed Wordfence numerous times, including other sites located on this server without any issues.

    Please advise,
    davie

  • Hi @da,
do you have any plugins on this specific site that you don’t have on the other sites? If you are normally able to optimize the Firewall on this server but can’t on this specific site, something must be different about it.

The display issues you describe sound like a JavaScript error might be happening. To see if that is the case you could keep a browser console open while loading the page.

The “an error occurred while saving the configuration” sounds like a separate issue. For that one, I’d recommend looking at the PHP error logs and see if they contain any relevant information that may help debug the situation.

Have you looked at the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page to make sure nothing is marked in red color there which would indicate a problem?

    Hi @da

Since we haven’t heard from you for a while I’m going to go ahead and resolve this thread. If you have any other questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to open a new one.

    Thanks.
