When we visit Site Kit > Settings we can see that while Search Console, PageSpeed Insights and Tag Manager are connected, Analytics shows the message ‘Complete setup for Analytics’.

However, when I click either that button or the link that says ‘continue module setup’ I just get a linear progress indicator and nothing more ever happens.

I tried disconnecting and re-connecting the analytics account, but no luck. I have WP Crontrol installed and forced ‘googlesitekit_cron_update_remote_features’ to run (seen on another thread here) and that didn’t help either.

Can you help us get analytics connected? Our conversion tracking isn’t working as expected because this is disconnected.

@nataliemac Thanks for the update and sorry to hear this is still ongoing. I do suspect that this is likely a conflict with a plugin or Cloudflare/hosting setting. Given the number of active plugins you do have I understand it is difficult to disable these one by one but if possible I’d suggest trying this.

In the meantime I will discuss this internally further with the team to see if there’s anything else that stands out here or any further suggestions I can pass on to you. I will update here once I have done this.

@nataliemac Just checking back in. One thing you could try here is to see if there are any browser extensions that may be blocking requests. This can happen with extensions such as ad blockers. Could you please try disabling all browser extensions to see if this then allows you to complete the Analytics setup?

If you still encounter the same then could you also share any console errors that you see at the stage you see the loading for Analytics?

Thanks @adamdunnage . I’m getting myself set up with a staging site clone that I can do more robust testing on and enable/disable plugins – since we’re dealing with an ecommerce site, we want to disturb the live site as little as possible.

@nataliemac Thanks for the update, that’s a very good idea. Please do let me know how you get on with that and if you find anything.

Well debugging on the staging site wasn’t helpful at all. I sent you an updated video if you have any other suggestions for what we might try

@nataliemac Apologies for the delay here and thank you for sharing the video at the time. Could I just check in with you at this time to see if you are still facing this issue? There is a new version of the plugin available so once updated do you encounter the same?

If you are still seeing the same we can continue to troubleshoot this with you to find a solution. Have you tried setting up Site Kit with a different Google account if you have one available to test with? I’d be interested to see if this behaves in the same way when trying to set up Analytics.

    Hi @adamdunnage,

Yes we are still facing this issue. I will update to the new version of the plugin and try it again and let you know how that goes. I can also try connecting a different account.

@nataliemac Thanks, I will await your update on this.

@adamdunnage Well I updated to the most recent version of the plugin, but still could not connect analytics. So then I disconnected my account completely and tried reconnecting with a different Google account, but the same result. I could connect every service except analytics. No errors in the console and only 200 responses in the network tab.

@nataliemac Very unusual indeed! I think the best thing to do at this stage and if possible would be to set up a new fresh site on the same hosting and first attempt to connect Analytics. If you are able to set this up as you have been on other sites, you can then try to add everything that you have on the affected site piece by piece and checking if you encounter the same issue with Analytics. If you run into the issue you should then be able to pinpoint the exact conflict that is causing this to happen.

Thanks @adamdunnage. As this is a live ecommerce site with multiple purchases being made daily, it’t not really feasible to re-build the site from scratch or move functionality little by little to a new site. I think we’re just going to have to connect Analytics manually so we can finally start collecting conversion data. Is there anything for us to keep in mind when adding the analytics tags to the HTML when SiteKit is handling the connections for other services?

@nataliemac No problem and completely understand your decision. No there’s nothing to keep in mind when placing your Analytics code snippets manually. Once you do, Site Kit should pick these up and allow you to select that property. If you still run into an issue with Site Kit as this stage then you will still be able to check your data from your Analytics account.
