Unable to connect to www.ads-software.com

    Hello,

    My website had WordPress 4.4.2 installed which I failed to update. Recently I noticed that I could not connect it to JetPack or install plugins from www.ads-software.com.

    In WordPress news dashboard widget I get these errors:

    `WP HTTP Error: Failed to connect to www.ads-software.com port 80: Connection timed out
    RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Failed to connect to planet.www.ads-software.com port 443: Connection timed out’

    I have enabled debug, so the other errors are:
    Error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to www.ads-software.com. Please contact your server administrator.) in /home/dreaain/public_html/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php on line 158

    I have tried disabling every single plugin, switched to default theme and even manually updated WordPress to 4.5.3 but I’m still facing same issue.

    Is there any debugging advise anyone can suggest to find out what is causing this issue?

  • Have you spoken to your hosts about this. Sounds like there is a DNS issue at their end.

    I emailed them and just waiting for their reply. For DNS I use CloudFlare however for testing I have paused it and also set it in Dev mode (Temporarily bypass our cache allowing you to see changes to your origin server in realtime). But no luck.

    I’ll wait for my host to reply.

    While you might have to download and upload this manually using FTP, try Background Update Tester for debugging purposes.

    Hey Mark, thanks a lot. That plugin is useful. I had manually uploaded files twice. Once by deleting all files in wp-admin and wp-include bu the same result.

    The log from the plugin you suggested is as below:

    PASS: Your WordPress install can communicate with www.ads-software.com securely.
PASS: No version control systems were detected.
PASS: Your installation of WordPress doesn’t require FTP credentials to perform updates.
WARNING: Couldn#8217;t retrieve a list of the checksums for WordPress 4.5.3. This could mean that connections are failing to www.ads-software.com.
This site is not able to apply these updates automatically. But we’ll email [email protected] when there is a new security release.
